Born in Earl Township, he was the son of the late Ammon and Katie (Heller) Hoover and the husband of Lydia (Hurst) Hoover. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this past December. A member of Weaverland Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference, he was a farmer for many years and was later employed by Paul B. Zimmerman, Inc. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons: Raymond, husband of Ruth Hoover of Lititz; Earl, husband of Luella Hoover of Lititz; Lamar, husband of Joy Hoover of Robesonia; and Ernest, husband of Louise Hoover of Manheim, three daughters: Rachel, wife of Irvin Martin of Shippensburg; Etta, wife of Walter Wise of Womelsdorf; and Lorraine, wife of Stanley Martin of Lititz, one brother, Ammon, husband of Ella Hoover of Manheim; three sisters, Sarah Weaver of Vineland, NJ; Verna Horning of Myerstown; and Kathryn, wife of Lloyd Wenger of Lititz, a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hoover of Lititz, 57 grandchildren, and 165 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Hoover, his brother Titus Hoover, 1 grandson and 1 great-grandson. A viewing will be held from 5 to 8 PM, Sunday, June 7, at Martindale Fellowship Center, 352 Martindale Road, Ephrata. Funeral services will be held at 9 AM at Martindale Fellowship Center with further services at 9:30 AM from the Weaverland Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference, with Bishop Lester B. Martin and Ministers Henry Horning, Ray Martin and Wilmer Hurst officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.
