He was the husband of Martha A. Conners Hummel and the late Elva Hoke Hummel. He was born April 5, 1942, in Pine Grove, a son of the late Clyde and Emma Strouphauer Hummel. Eddie was a 1960 graduate of Cornwall High School. He retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam; retired a second time with over 20 years of service with the Lebanon VA Medical Center, and he was employed as a bus driver with COLT at the time of his death. He was a lifetime member of AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics); he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was an avid builder and flyer of RC Airplanes. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Eddie L. Hummel Jr. and his wife Tiffany of Bethel; Joella Wilson and her partner Jeff Herr of Mt. Gretna; Carolyn Link and her husband Ray of Reading; stepchildren, Jeff Wolf of Lebanon; Stephanie Wolf of CA; Don Wolf Jr. of Annville; Debi Lee Freeman and her husband Tom of Downingtown; brother, John Hummel and his wife Linda of Birmingham, Ala.; Bruce Hummel husband of the late Dorisse of Foley, Ala.; Robert Hummel and his wife Dawn of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren, and he was waiting for his first great-grandchild to be born later this month. Funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in the Bunker Hill Evangelical Congregational Church, Route 72 North, Lebanon. Interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8:00 PM at the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, and Friday from 10 to 11:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Southeastern Branch, 1630 Manheim Pike, Suite 8, Lancaster, PA 17601.
