Evelyn B. Hummel, 79, of Exton, Pa., died Sunday, February 8, 2009, in the 
Neighborhood Hospice, West Chester, Pa. She was the wife of the late Bernard J. 
Hummel. She was born February 6, 1930, in Lititz, Pa., a daughter of the late 
C. Frank and E. May Brendle Hess. She was a member of the Jerusalem Evangelical 
Lutheran Church, Rothsville, Pa. Evelyn graduated from the Lancaster Business 
School, and the Warwick Township High School, Class of 1948. She still met 
monthly with her high school classmates. She is survived by daughters Theresa 
Ann Hummel of Exton, Connie L., wife of David Davis of Schaefferstown, Pa.; 
grandchildren Jason A. Davis, Jessica S. Davis; great-grandson Samuel Eugene 
Davis; brothers Samuel L., husband of Thelma J. Hess of Lititz, Robert B., 
husband of Maria Elaina Hess of Castro Valley, Calif. She was preceded in death 
by brothers Frank B. Hess, Glenn Hess and Bernard Hess. Funeral service will be 
held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 36 
Church St., Rothsville, PA 17543-3036, with a viewing beginning on Wednesday at 
2 p.m. Interment will be made in the Rothsville Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of 
flowers, contributions may be made to her church. Clauser Funeral Home Inc. of 
Schaefferstown, Pa., is handling the arrangements.
