Iglesias, 59, died at home on Friday, October 9, 2009, from complications of metastatic cancer. At the time of her death she was receiving hospice care. She was born in New York City, the daughter of Louis and Margaret Iglesias. She received her bachelor's degree in 1971 and her master's degree in 1974, both from Queen's College. Her Ph.D. was conferred in 1979 by the City University of New York. She was Professor of Spanish at Lebanon Valley College, where she taught for more than 30 years. Before that, she taught at Wilson College and several colleges in New York. In 1993 she received the Thomas Rhys Vickroy Award for Distinguished Teaching at LVC. She published numerous professional articles, traveled widely, and was frequently invited to speak at academic conferences. She organized workshops for teachers, served as translator and interpreter for several organizations, and was active in the community as a popular speaker and presenter of children's programs. She is survived by her mother, husband John Heffner, daughter Carolyn, son Andrew, and brother Robert. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Annville. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday with visitation at the church from 1 p.m. A second memorial service will be held at St. James' Episcopal Church, 100 Dock St., Schuylkill Haven, at 11 a.m. on Thursday with visitation at the church from 10 a.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Paul the Apostle Church, 125 Spruce St., Annville, PA 17003; St. James' Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 603, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972; or Annville Free Library, 216 E. Main St., Annville, PA 17003. Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
