  Clarence E. Jefferies PALMYRA Clarence E. ''Pete'' Jefferies passed away 
  Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was born 
  Sunday, July 19, 1914, in E. Hanover Township, to the late John M. and Adella 
  (Rott) Jefferies. He was a retired state employee. Clarence proudly served his 
  country in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946, assigned to the 2nd Chemical Mortar 
  Battalion. He participated in the invasion in Sicily and Southern France. He 
  was awarded four Bronze Stars, Bronze Arrowhead, and Purple Heart with one Oak 
  Leaf Cluster. He was a life member of the Dauphin County Volunteer Firemans 
  Assoc., VFW, and Disabled American Veterans. He was also an Honorary Life 
  Member of the ColumbiaMiddletown Elks #1074, a member of the Hershey Fire Co., 
  AARP, and volunteered for many years at the Lebanon VA Hospital. He is survived 
  by two sisters, Ruth Robertson of Palmyra and Sara Hetrick of Galeton; as well 
  as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, William, 
  and a sister, Florence. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 23, 
  2009, at 1 p.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. 
  Pine St., Palmyra, 17078 with Pastor Dennis Garrison officiating. Friends and 
  family are invited for a time of viewing from 12 p.m. until time of the 
  service. Burial with full military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap 
  National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be 
  made to Lebanon VA Medical Center, Voluntary Service Office, 1700 S. Lincoln 
  Ave., Building 18, Lebanon, PA 17042.
