"Betty" Elizabeth E. "Betty" Katzmire, 86, formerly of Hershey, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Cornwall Manor. Born July 25, 1922, in Nesquehoning, she was a daughter of the late John and Ellen (Youngblut) Davis. She was a graduate of Nesquehoning High School and Allentown Business College. Having worked for the Pennsylvania State Police before moving to New Jersey, she retired from the U.S. Army in Fort Monmouth on January 2, 1985. She returned to Hershey in 1986 where she was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hummelstown, and did volunteer work at Hope Lodge, Hershey. An active member at the Hershey Mohler Senior Center and Hershey AARP, she was the editor of the AARP monthly newsletter for 8 years and was also on the Board of Directors. She was the widow of Marvin B. Katzmire of Summit Hill, who died in 1975. Surviving are her children Elizabeth K. "Betsy," wife of Lee Wagner of Hummelstown, and John N. "Jack," husband of Donna Katzmire of Grantville; brother David Davis of Tampa, Florida; special niece Carol Hess of Hummelstown; and grandchildren Sandra Adams Shiley (Michael), Melissa Clemens (Richard), Michael Wagner (Becca), Kim Morrison, Shannon Dickinson (Mark), and Andrew Katzmire (Christy); and 11 greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, January 30, 2009, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Viewings 6:30-7: 30 PM Thursday at Buse Funeral Home, 2 East Main Street, Hummelstown, and 10:00-10:30 AM Friday at the church. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
