She was the widow of Francis William Roeder, who was her husband from 1940 until he died in 1970, and Elvin Keener who was her husband from 1979 until he died in March 2009. She was born on September 28, 1913, in Rockingham County, VA, to Charles T. and Cora J. Garrison. She was one of 7 sisters; Beulah Garrison (deceased), Almeta Ritter (deceased), Merle Walters, Nina Finney, Eunice Yocum and Alvesta Schwab. She was a member of the Conewago Church of the Brethren for more than 70 years. She was an employee of the Derry Township School District until her retirement in 1979. She was a very energetic woman and she was a kind and dedicated mother and grandmother. She loved going to the Country Kitchen Restaurant for breakfast. She enjoyed shopping, talking with her friends and gardening and she was a great believer in growing tomato plants. She is survived by her four sisters and her direct descendants: her son, Charles William Roeder of Seattle, WA, and his wife, Nancy; her grandson, Michael Thomas Roeder, of Foothills Ranch, CA, and his wife, Aimee, and her great-grandson, Oliver Charles Roeder, also of Foothills Ranch, CA. She also enjoyed serving as a substitute grandparent to the children and grandchildren of Robert & Joanne Keener, who are the descendants of her recently deceased husband, Elvin. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, June 15, 2009, at 10:00 AM at the Conewago Church of the Brethren, 7035 Schoolhouse Rd., Hershey. Viewing will be from 9:00-10:00 in the church. The Rev. Scott Cooper will officiate. Burial will follow in the Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. In lieu of the flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Conewago Church of the Brethren. Rothermel Funeral Home Inc. is entrusted with funeral arrangements.
