He had been in ill health for several years. Bob was born August 3, 1931, in Wyoming, PA, a son of the late Kerrie Kelly and Cordelia (Piatt) Kelly Summers. He moved to Bloomsburg in 1945 and attended a one-room school in Rupert in 1945. He then attended Bloomsburg High School, where he graduated in 1949. Bob joined the U.S. Army in August 1948 and remained active until September 30, 1970. He served in Korea with the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team. He then served in the Dominican Republic with the 82nd Airborne Division. His final campaign was in Vietnam with the Black Horse Armored Regimen. His final assignment was at Fort Indiantown Gap as Personnel Officer, where he served until his retirement with 22 years service. Among Bob's military numerous awards is included the Bronze Star during the Vietnam War. Following his military career, Mr. Kelly was employed by Cumberland Perry Area Vo Tech School and PennDOT, retiring from PennDOT in 1994. Bob volunteered as a school board member with the Columbia Montour Vo Tech School Operating Committee and the Bloomsburg Area School District for 15 years. Bob was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Bloomsburg, and First Baptist Church, Danville. Preceding him in death was his first wife: Mabel Lorraine (Gordon) Kelly, who died July 15, 1997. Survivors include his wife, B. Joann (Reibsome) Kelly, whom he married September 5, 1999; three daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Frizzell, wife of John, of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Linda Jean Sevison of Bloomsburg, Cheryl Ann McCann, wife of James, of Lynchburg, VA; one son, Robert W. Kelly, husband of Sandra, of Lebanon and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Elizabeth Becker and James P. Kelly of Pottstown; a stepdaughter, Kim Rock of Danville and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat grandchildren. Friends will be received Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, Danville, from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with his pastor, Rev. Harry Wonderland, officiating. Burial will be on Thursday at 12 noon in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
