Knarr LEBANON Laura Corine (Kessler) Knarr passed into the Lord's hands on Thursday, November 5, 2009. She was a resident of Spang Crest Manor, Lebanon, and formerly of Myerstown. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Orville B. Knarr of Myerstown; son, Neil O. Knarr and wife, Lucinda of Colonial Heights, Va.; granddaughter, Kristen M. (Knarr) Roberts, and greatgrandson, Nathanael M. Roberts, both of Richmond, Va.; and sister, Viola B. (Kessler) Redcay of Stevens, Pa. Laura was born in Orwin, Pa., on June 6, 1925, and was the daughter of the late Sherman F. and Ada M. (Brown) Kessler. She was preceded in death by brothers, Lester, Arlington (Pinky), Clair, Walter, and Delmar; and sisters, Elura (Kessler) Vogel, and Dorothy (Kessler) Banning. Laura retired in 1987 after 40 years as a first line supervisor with the Bayer (Sterling Drug) Company in Myerstown. She was a member of the Industrial Management Club of Lebanon County, the Myerstown VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Myerstown Goodwill Fire Company. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing with her husband. She was a graduate of South Lebanon High School where she played catcher on the girl's softball team. Laura was always an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter and greatgrandson, and was always delighted by the visits of her many devoted nieces, nephews, and cousins. Laura was known by her fiery will and determination, but always had a kind heart for those in need. She often raised money to provide for the less fortunate. Laura was a member of Myerstown United Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at 11 am. from Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown. Friends may call Wednesday at 10 am. Interment at Zion Lutheran & Reformed Cemetery, Womelsdorf. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1263, Lebanon, PA 17042; or the Humane Society of Lebanon County, 150 N. Ramona Road, Myerstown, PA 17067.
