Ellis H. Ellis Kreider, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at the age of 84 in his residence at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home. He was the devoted husband to Patsy "Pat" Hollenbeck Kreider. He was born in Campbelltown on October 18, 1924, to Ethan and Esther Books Kreider. He retired after 25 years as a Realtor, owning and operating Kreider Real Estate. He also was employed in Hershey for Century 21 and Coldwell Banker Real Estate. He was a lifetime member of the Palmyra Brethren in Christ Church. He graduated from Hershey High School, attended Lebanon Valley College, and graduated from Houghton College. After World War II, he sailed with a relief ship, transporting cattle to Poland. He was an avid hiker and enjoyed walking. He was past president of the Susquehanna Appalachian Trail Club, a Penn State football fan, and he and his wife enjoyed farming on their son's organic vegetable farm. He was a long time board member of the United Christian Cemetery in Campbelltown. Surviving in addition to his wife Pat are his children, Timothy Kreider and his wife, Wendy of Campbelltown, and Jonathan and his wife, Elizabeth WeaverKreider of Wrightsville; grandsons Nathan Allen Kreider and Ellis Aaron Weaver-Kreider; sisters Ruth Landis and Marian Hock, both of Carlisle; and a brother, Harold Kreider of Englewood, Ohio. He is preceded in death by brothers Marlin and Ray Kreider. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of viewing on Sunday, January 11, 2009, from 57 p.m. at the Rothermel Funeral Home Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra. On Monday, January 12, 2009, a time for viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his funeral service with the Rev. Larry Rieck officiating. Burial will follow in the United Christian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Good Samaritan Fund, 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra, PA 17078; or to his church Expansion Fund, 626 W.
