Rhoda E. Laudermilch Rhoda E. Laudermilch, 93, entered her heavenly home Friday, March 13, 2009, at the Royer House of the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra. Born February 24, 1916, in Swatara Township, Hummelstown, she was a daughter of the late Mark E. and Emma Hershey Gingrich. Her husband, John S. Laudermilch, died in 1982; and she was also preceded in death by brothers J. Hershey Gingrich, J. Adam Gingrich and Lee E. Gingrich; sister Alda Gingrich; and a granddaughter, Cara Smith. A 1932 graduate of Hummelstown High School, she retired in 1981 as the supervisor of the South Hanover Elementary School cafeteria. She was a member of Hanoverdale Church of the Brethren, where she sang in the church choir since she was a teenager, taught Sunday school, served on different church commissions, and enjoyed working in the church kitchen. A volunteer in the kitchen at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, she was proud of the plaque she received for her 1,500 hours of service. Surviving is her loving family, daughter Nancy Gingrich, wife of H. Arthur of Palmyra; sons John M., husband of Jeanne of New Windsor, Maryland, and Dr. Edwin R., husband of Romy of Hummelstown; grandchildren Mark Gingrich of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dale Gingrich of Annville, Ryan Laudermilch and Andy Laudermilch, both of Hummelstown, and Lesley Woodward of Aspers; and six greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at her church, 577 Hershey Road, Hummelstown, preceded by a viewing from 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the adjoining Hanoverdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund of the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 1200 Grubb Street, Palmyra, PA 17078; or to her church, 577 Hershey Road, Hummelstown, PA 17036.
