Lick, Sr., U.S. Army, 79, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009, in the Harrisburg Hospital. He was born Friday, October 10, 1930, in Red Hill, and was a son of the late Warren Lick and Vergie (Mohr) Dise. Dan served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from the Army in 1970 as a Chief Warrant Officer 2, and was awarded many honors including the Purple Heart Medal. After retiring from the service, Dan moved to Arizona and worked in the banking industry. He was currently working part-time with Giant Foods in Cleona. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and was an avid bowler. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley A. (Smith) Lick; two sons, Daniel C., Jr. and his wife, Kimberly Lick and Larry J. and his wife, Patricia Lick all of Arizona; six grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Lick; and two sisters, Helen Sames and Claire Fells. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2009, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Steve Gibb officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard. A viewing will be held from 1 p.m. until time of the services on Monday at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Hershey Medical Center, 500 University Drive, Hershey, PA 17033.
