Ira G. Light, Jr., 70 of Annville, PA died at the home of his daughter in Schwenksville, Montgomery County on Tuesday, February 3, 2009. He was the husband of the late Joann Jordan Light. He was born in Philadelphia on March 7, 1938 to Ira G. Light, Sr. & Elizabeth Reed Light. He retired after 37 years. He taught Elementary education for the Annville School District and then served as a Principal at the CornwallLebanon Elementary School. He went on to serving as the Director of Education for the Cornwall-Lebanon School District. He graduated from Palmyra High School Class of 1956, attended the Hershey Jr. College before receiving his Masters of Education from Millersville University. He was a faithful member of the Palmyra Church of the Brethren where he served as Chair of the Education Team, was a member of the Church Board and a volunteer with the local food bank, The Caring Cupboard. He was a Past President of the Palmyra Jay Cee's. He was an extensive world traveler, a master craftsman of wood working. Surviving are his children, Erin wife of Rob Lipkowitz of Beverly, MA; Lisa Case of Lewisberry, PA; Eric Light of Sykesville, MD; Kristin (Lichtenwalner) wife of Robert Wonderling of Schwenksville, PA; Jennifer (Lichtenwalner) wife of Michael McKinnis of Philadelphia, PA; 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Relatives & friends are invited for a Memorial service on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 11:00 at the Palmyra Church of the Brethren 45 N. Chestnut St., Palmyra followed by a time for visitation & a reception at Ira's home, 1164 Syner Road, Annville. Burial is private in the Gravel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Palmyra Church of the Brethren or to the Leukemia Society, Central PA Chapter, 800 Corporate Circle Suite 100 Harrisburg PA 17110. Rothermel Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with memorial arrangements.
