"Chubb" Longenecker, 53, of 450 Drescher Road, died Thursday, October 8, 2009, in the Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Joanne L. Risser Longenecker, with whom he celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on July 28, 2009. Born in Lebanon, on July 9, 1956, he was the son of Lester Longenecker, Jr. of Palmyra and the late Mary Flickinger Longenecker. He was employed with Building Operations Control at the Hershey Medical Center. "Chubb" was a 1974 graduate of Palmyra High School. He attended Salem United Church of Christ, Campbelltown, and was a member of the Prince EdwinSpring Creek Masonic Lodge #486, F. & A.M., Middletown. He was a volunteer for United Cerebral Palsy, which is now Developmental and Disability Services, Lebanon, enjoyed helping to make many Palmyra homecoming floats at his home, and was always willing to help others. He was an avid gardener and loved to ride his HarleyDavidson with his daughter and granddaughter. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Nathan S. Longenecker of Palmyra; two daughters, Janelle M. Longenecker at home and Jennifer L. Longenecker of Campbelltown; a granddaughter, Ella Joyce Longenecker; a stepmother, Carolyn Longenecker of Palmyra; a brother, Michael L. Longenecker of Grantville; a sister, Laurie A. Longenecker of Palmyra; several nieces and nephews; and his border collie, Maddie. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday evening, October 13, at 7 p.m. from Salem United Church of Christ, 2761 Horseshoe Pike, Campbelltown, PA 17010, with a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family. Masonic services will be at 4:45 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery Fund. Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Annville, is in charge of arrangements.
