Marko, 90, died Sunday, August 2, 2009, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Sara M. Foster Marko. Born August 7, 1918, in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Thomas and Cecelia Fiola Marko. He had worked at Lustberg Nast, Publix Shirt in Myerstown, and Everite Knitting Mills. He was a Master Carpenter and his hobbies included making crafts. He was a World War II Army Veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded in action on Guam August 9, 1944. He was a life member of the Lebanon Legion and the Myerstown VFW, and was a member of the Lincoln Republican Club. He was a member of St. Mary's Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four grandchildren, Jackie Miller, Jill Krall, Larry Neuman Jr., and Jennifer Getz; nine great-grandchildren, Bryan, Madisyn, Sara, Zachary, Alyssa, Nicholas, Grant, Matthew, and Tess; a daughter, Cathy Krick of Lebanon; a sister, Mary Massar of Lebanon; a brother, Michael Marko of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Michael; five brothers, John, Rudolph, Joseph, Anthony, and Frank; and one sister, Stella. Funeral mass Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 2 N. 8th St., Lebanon. Interment on Holy Cross Cemetery. Viewing hours Wednesday morning 8 to 9:30 a.m. from Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church or the Lebanon VA Medical Center Hospice, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave. Lebanon, PA 17042.
