He was born Saturday, June 27, 1925, in Shamokin to the late Lloyd and Minnie (Kahney) Martin. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Katie (Moyer) Martin. He was an active member of Palmyra Grace Brethren Church, where he served faithfully. He was a member of the Chocolate Workers Union, Local 464 and retired from Hershey Foods after 44 years of service. He served in the US Air Force in the South Pacific during WWII and the 28th Infantry during the Korean War. He is survived by a son, Larry E. Martin of Annville; a daughter, Patricia (Martin) McPoyle and husband Frederick of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Matthew J. Bruce and wife Jennifer of Broomall, and Amie B. (Bruce) Reichelderfer and husband Brian of Hershey; two great grandchildren, Sara Reichelderfer, and Annabel Bruce; two brothers, Lloyd Martin of Palmyra, and John Martin and wife Cheryl of Dillsburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Martin; and a sister, Geraldine (Martin) Love. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 25, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Rothermel Funeral Home, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Pastor Daniel Travis officiating. Friends and family are invited for a time of viewing from 9:30 AM until time of the service. Burial will follow in the Garden of Devotion, Grandview Memorial Park, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PACC Caring Cupboard, 131 N. Railroad St., Palmyra, PA 17078 or Palmyra Grace Brethren Church, 799 Airport Rd., Palmyra, PA 17078.
