She was the wife of James H. McCorkle, to whom she married on August 4, 1951. She was born in South Londonderry Township, Lebanon County, on December 23, 1933, the daughter of Clarence and Emma Eckert Kegerreis. She was a homemaker, as well as a bookkeeper for many years, working for the Hershey Estates, the Pennsylvania State Highway Department and as a cashier for Rite Aid in Hershey. She was a member of the Spring Creek Church of the Brethren. Her passion was her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, embroidery and sewing. Surviving in addition to her husband, James, are her four sons, Wayne D., husband of Patricia McCorkle, Larry J. McCorkle, Steve D., husband of Pam McCorkle, all of Hershey, and Craig M. McCorkle, husband of Jan Zimmerman of Ephrata; her daughter, Ann M., wife of Joseph Koons of Hershey; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; sisters Jane, wife of Kenneth Light of Palmyra, and Ruth Ann, wife of Harvey Bashore of Campbelltown; brothers Howard, husband of Helen Keggereis of Harrisburg, and Robert Keggereis of Palmyra. She is preceded in death by brothers Lawrence and Paul Keggereis and sisters Verna Koons, Esther Kelly, Phyllis Elliot and June Ward. Relatives and friends are invited for a Memorial Get Together on Sunday, April 26, 2009, from 12:30-3 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church, Hummelstown, with the Rev. Dennis Garrison memorializing Mabel at 1 p.m. Cremains burial will be in the Broadview Cemetery, Derry Township, on Friday, April 24, 2009, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Garrison officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Dialysis Patient Fund, Office of University Development, Penn State Hershey Medical Center, PO Box 852, Hershey, PA 17033. Rothermel Funeral Home Inc. is entrusted with funeral arrangements.
