Doris M. McDaniels, 82, of 100 N. Larkspur Drive, Palmyra, Apt. 112, Traditions of Hershey, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2009, at the Harrisburg Hospital. She was the wife of the late Frank S. McDaniels Sr., who passed away Dec. 24, 2006. Born in Deer Park, Wisconsin, on July 5, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Martha E. Klatt Gust. Doris was a riveter at the Boeing Plant in Tacoma, Washington, during World War II and retired as an LPN from the Good Samaritan Hospital. She was a member of the Palm Lutheran Church in Palmyra; Lebanon YMCA, where she participated in the aquacise class; Palmyra VFW Ladies Auxiliary; and Women of the Moose. Doris was a founding member of the Traditions of Hershey and a Vanda Beauty Counselor representative. Surviving are sons Frank S. McDaniels Jr. and wife Debra of Annville and retired Col. Lloyd E. McDaniels and wife Deborah of Madison, Ala.; daughters Gail F. Blake and companion Rick Curtin of Steelton, Paula J. McDaniels and husband William Stouffer of Lykens; sonsin-law Richard Blake of Hershey and Tom McDonough of Perryville, Md.; brother Lloyd Gust of Bend, Ore.; sister Eunice Endicott of Springfield, Ore.; foster mother Jeanette Root of Yankton, S.D.; nine grandchildren, Travis L. Shirk, Patience I. O'Rawe, Jennifer L. Baughman, Justin R. McDaniels, Jacqueline M. Stouffer, Julie R. Stouffer, Ryan S. McDaniels, Erin C. McDaniels, and Morgan N. McDaniels; four greatgrandchildren, Daniel J. Baughman, Baby Girl Baughman, J. Alex McDaniels, and Albert T. O'Rawe; and her beloved cat, Kramer. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianna L. McDonough. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 3 p.m. from the Palm Lutheran Church, 11 W. Cherry St., Palmyra. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 2:30-3 p.m., prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Paw Prints Dog Sanctuary, P.O. Box 161, Shermans Dale, PA 17090.
