Ralph E. McDonaldson, age 77 of Palmyra died Monday, January 5, 2009 in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Shirley I. (Whisler) McDonaldson to whom he was married for 58 years. He was born January 8, 1931 in Rockingham County, VA to Jerney & Icie Armentrout McDonaldson. He retired after 43 years of service from the Shipping department of Hershey Foods. He was a member of the Local 464 Hershey Chocolate Workers Union, the Spring Creek Lodge #802 F & A.M. Ralph enjoyed his home, lawn work & hunting. He & his wife were members of the Palmyra United Christian Church. Surviving in addition to his wife Shirley is his daughter Barbara A. wife of Richard Leibfried of Annville; Grandsons William J. husband of Margaret Stump of Lebanon; Staff Sgt. Frank E. husband of Dawn Stump of Okinowa, Japan; Step Granddaughters Tamara Leibfried of Palmyra; Beth Leibfried of Lebanon and Kathleen wife of John Early of Lebanon; Great Grandson Devyn Stump of Lebanon and Step Great Grandchildren Ashley Leibfried of Harrisburg and Laura & Tyler Early of Lebanon; Brothers Donald McDonaldson of Swoope, VA & Harry McDonaldson of Sun City, AZ. He was preceded in death by siblings Novella Garber, Kathleen Cole, Danny, Everett, Conard and Marvin McDonaldson. Relatives & friends are invited for a time of viewing on Friday, January 9, 2009 from 9:30-10:30 at the Rothermel Funeral Home, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra followed by his funeral service at 10:30 with Pastor John Ludwig officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Palmyra United Christian Church 133 N.
