She was the wife of the late Victor A. Messner. She was born in Lebanon on July 3, 1931, a daughter of the late Herbert and Cora Donmoyer Meyer. She worked for both Binner Mills and Dutch Miss sewing factories, but was most proud of being a mother, homemaker, and caring friend to many. She was a lover of people, nature, and animals - particularly dogs. While human guests were treasured, dogs were also welcomed into her home with open arms and affection. Survivors include son and daughterin-law Victor E. and Lisa Messner; grandson Russell Firestone; three great-grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughter Mary Ann Firestone; brothers John H. Meyer, H. Richard Meyer, Miles Meyer, and Donald Meyer; and a sister, June Meyer. Graveside funeral service will be held 10 a.m. on Friday at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Humane Society of Lebanon County, 150 N. Ramona Road, Myerstown, PA 17067. Rohland Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
