Eckenrode Meyers (Bender), 67, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009, in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Born in Lebanon on January 13, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Richard H. and Catherine E. Vancho Bender. Barbara was the former owner of Ecko Village Apartments, Hummelstown. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey. Barbara was a volunteer for the Republican Party. She was also a member of the Lebanon County Historical Society, Dauphin County Historical Society, Hummelstown Area Historical Society, Hershey Italian Lodge, Hummelstown Flower & Garden Club, and American Business Women's Association. Barbara enjoyed gardening, antiquing, cooking, and most of all, spending time with her family. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Eckenrode, Sr.; a sister, Ann Rose Sweitzer; and daughter, Cheri L. Rohr. She is survived by her husband Kenneth W. Meyers; one daughter, Vickie L. Swoyer Hamm; three sons, Warren R. Rohr husband of Teri, James M. Rohr husband of Connie, and Christopher J. Rohr husband of Janice; eight grandchildren, Tierra, Zachary, Katelyn, Rachel, Nathan, Rebecca, Brentten and Brycent; one greatgrandchild, Kaleb; two brothers, James Bender husband of Audrey and Dr. John Bender; two sisters, Carol Work wife of Bill, and Christine Kosh wife of Clyde. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 2, 2009, at 11 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Lebanon. Friends will be received for a viewing Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 W. Main St., Hummelstown.
