He was born on May 11, 1917, in Lebanon, Pa., to Nicholas Constantine and Mary Pauline Vavrous Morgan. George was a 1941 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, earning a degree in commercial engineering. George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was married to Bertha M. Gieseking on June 11, 1941, at Cincinnati; she preceded him in death on May 5, 1993. George was employed at Westinghouse Electric Corporation as manager of the Transformer Division; he also worked in Brazil, South America, for 11 years. He retired in 1982 as a vice president. Mr. Morgan was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served as a lay minister. George was also a past member of the Lutheran Men's Chorus. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his stories. He is survived by one son, George (Rita) Morgan Jr. of Loveland Ohio; three granddaughters, Samantha Ann Morgan of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jessica Lee Morgan of Nelsonville, Ohio, and Piper Jill Longmuir of Portland, Ore.; a greatgranddaughter, Novalee Scout Morgan of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, James (Janet) Morgan of Philadelphia, Pa.; and a sister, Winnefred May (Robert) Heffley of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sisters, Helen Keller and Olga Groff; two brothers, John Constantine "J.C." Morgan, and Harry Morgan. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Stuckwisch and the Rev. Allen Wolka officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2008, at The Lutheran Community Home, and on Friday, at the church, from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place at Arlington Memorial Gardens, Cincinnati, Ohio, following the service. Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church Foundation, Trinity Lutheran High School, The Lutheran Community Home, or to the donor's choice.
