Glenn A. Powell, age 78, formerly of Palmyra died Thursday, February 26, 2009, in his residence in Oceanview, Delaware. He is the husband of Fumiko (Muta) Powell. He was born on October 30, 1931, in Tower City, Pa., to Arlington and Florence Masterson Powell. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a technical staff sergeant. He was a disabled American veteran. He worked for five years in security for Indiantown Gap Military Reserve. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 10 years. He retired after 12 years from the Lebanon Daily Newspaper working as a circulation representative. He was formerly a member of the Gravel Hill United Methodist Church. He served as past president of the Palmyra Cougar Booster Club. He is a member of the Palmyra American Legion Post and the American Legion Post #24 in Delaware. He served as Supervior for North Londonderry Township from 19881998 and was active with the Palmyra EMA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, skiing, card playing & baseball. Surviving him in addition to his wife Fumiko is his son Glenn A. Powell, II husband of Mona of Pittsburgh and his daughter Tammy S. wife of Michael Kelly of Frankford, DE and two grandsons Weston G. and Judson R. Powell. Relitives and friends are invited for a time of viewing on Monday, March 2, 2009 from 6-9 PM at the Rothermel Funeral Home, Inc., 25 W. Pine St. Palmyra and from 10:30-11:30 on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 11:30 with with Rev. Kenneth Buckwalter officiating. Burial will be in the Indiantown Gap Nat'l Cemetary with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Disabled American Veterans PO Box 14301 Cincinnati, Ohio 452500301.
