Joseph H. Progin passed away peacefully on June 10, 2009, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Marilyn Blauch Progin, and celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last October. He was born to J. Henry and Addie Clouser Progin on January 15, 1932, in Lebanon. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Joe was the first employee of Quaker Alloy Casting Co. In addition, he worked for the Lebanon Steel Foundry. For the last five years, he delivered flowers for his granddaughters at Lebanon Valley Flowers and Gifts in Lebanon. In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons Pete, husband of Cindy of Lebanon, Tom, husband of Linda of Toledo, OR, and Steve, husband of Peggy of Lebanon; his daughter Lisa of Fredericksburg; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a brother Bob Progin, and a sister Marion Greenawalt, both of Lebanon. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Donations in memory of Joseph can be made to the Lebanon VA Medical Center Hospice and ICU. Joe was known as the Bird Man of Lebanon. He would tell everyone to "Keep birdwatching." Arrangements are in the care of the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown.
