Jeanne C. Reed, 78, of Carlisle, formerly of Palmyra, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at her daughter's home. Born August 13, 1930, in Clendenin, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Cecil Herman Cobb and Sarah Elizabeth (Happy) Legg Cobb, and wife of the late Charles Richard (Dick) Reed. Jeanne was a 1948 graduate of Hurricane High School, Hurricane, W.Va., and a 1951 graduate of Charleston General Hospital Nursing School, Charleston, W.Va. She was employed as a registered nurse at the Hershey Hospital and Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She retired in 1986. Jeanne moved to Carlisle in 1994, where she made numerous friends as a member of Carlisle's Newcomer's Club, AARP, and Red Hats. She was active in Tai Chi, Pinochle, Bridge, Canasta, Out to Lunch Bunch, Day Trippers, scrapbooking, singles, and dining out groups. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling, genealogy, and volunteering. She was preceded in death by her sisters Wanda Kathryn (Kaye) Brown and Sandra Carolyn Gooch. She is survived by her sister, Paula Jacquelyn Conway; her three daughters, Karen S. Grenot and her husband, Charles of Mechanicsburg, Barbara A. McMullin and her husband, Edward of Carlisle, and Nancy G. Willmore and her husband, Dave of Palm City, Fla. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Danielle and Nicole Grenot, Evan Jonathan McMullin and Nicholas Guillotte; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Auer Cremation Services of Pennsylvania Inc. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 22, at 3 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 45 S. West Street, Carlisle, with a time of visitation for family and friends preceding the service at 2 p.m. A reception will follow the service. Burial will be at the United Christian Church Cemetery in Campbelltown, held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3211 North Front Street, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110; or Celtic Hospice, 220 Wilson Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
