"Gene" Martin E. "Gene" Reichard, 86, Willow Terrace Apt. 2H, died Sunday, May 3, 2009, in the Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of Pauline M. Lingle Reichard. He was born in Lebanon on October 20, 1922, a son of the late Martin L. and Anna P. Smith Reichard. He was retired from the Lebanon School District Maintenance Dept. and had previously been an upholster for the former Heverling Decorators. He was an Army Veteran of WW II having served in Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe and the Rhineland. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lebanon, Lebanon High School Class of 1940, Lebanon VFW Post 23, Orioles Club, AARP and Goodwill Fire Co., Lebanon where he had been an active volunteer fireman for many years. He coached Midget League Baseball for the YMCA. He enjoyed fishing. He had attended the Lebanon Business College. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters: Donna, wife of Brain P. McDonnell, Melbourne FL; Renae Reichard, Doylestown; Cynthia, wife of Lester E. Whitman, Jonestown; 3 grandchildren; a greatgrandson; brothers: Donald and wife Bonnie Reichard, Myerstown; Ronald and wife Jane, Myerstown; Clarence and wife Doris Reichard, Lebanon; sisters: June Crosby, Lebanon and Doris Moore, Virginia Beach, VA. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Stacy McDonnell; and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services Thursday, May 7, 2009, at 1:00 PM Rohland Funeral Home Inc., 5th & Cumberland St., Lebanon where a viewing will be held Thursday beginning at 12 noon. Interment Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to National WW II Museum, 945 Magazine St, New Orleans LA 70130 or a Veterans organization of your choice.
