He was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Jean A. (Shiffert) Sener. The son of the late John and Sarah Amanda (Gingrich) Sener, he was born in West Chester, PA on March 29, 1927. He was a graduate of Middletown High School and was a longtime resident of the Harrisburg area. He graduated Penn State University with a degree in engineering and was member of Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity. He served in the Army during WWII in Italy. He worked in real estate for many years, most of them at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as an appraiser before retiring in 1992. He volunteered as a coach for his son's Little League baseball teams. At various times in his life, he collected stamps, coins, movies, and audio recordings. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by three children, Candice Falger of Myerstown, John E. Sener Jr. of Takoma Park, MD, and Patricia Sener of Brooklyn, NY; four grandchildren, Jeremy Wolf of Perkasie, PA, Lukas Wolf of New York City, Emily Falger of Myerstown, and Christopher Sener of Takoma Park, MD, and two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Noah Wolf of Perkasie, PA. A brother, Walter Sener of Hummelstown, PA, also survives him. Arrangements are being handled by Rohland Funeral Home in Lebanon. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 9 am. Funeral services will be held at 10 am. Burial will be at Rolling Green Memorial Gardens in Camp Hill directly after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association.
