  Cdr. Miriam Christine Sherman of California, 86, died Thursday, May 14, 2009, 
  in California. She was born Dec. 25, 1922. She was a graduate of Lebanon High 
  School and Reading Hospital School of Nursing, and she received her B.A. and 
  M.A. degrees from Columbia University. Before entering the Navy Nurse Corps in 
  1953, she was an office nurse for Dr. Richard Schrieber in Lebanon. She retired 
  from the U.S. Navy in 1973. She is survived by nieces Brenda Sherman and 
  Cynthia Stipanov of Pasadena, Calif.; nephew James Sherman of La Quinta, 
  Calif.; grandniece Charlotte Stipanov of Pasadena, Calif.; and grandnephew 
  Andrew Sherman. Contributions may be made to the Navy Nurse Corps Association 
  of Southern California, 549 El Dorado Dr., Escondido, CA 92025. Arrangements by 
  Memorial Park, Mortuary and Crematory, Oceanside, Calif.
