  Adele Marie Shiffer Saturday, February 7, 2009 Adele Marie Shiffer, 86, of 
  Schuylkill Haven, Pa., passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009, in Schuylkill 
  Center, Pottsville. Born on October 20, 1922, in Pine Grove Township, she was a 
  daughter of the late Sterling and Alda M. Wenrich Lewars. Adele worked as a 
  seamstress for the former Canoe Mfg. in Pine Grove. She was a member of St. 
  Peter's Lutheran Church in Pine Grove, and a member of the Pine Grove Senior 
  Citizens. Preceding her in death were her husband, Franklin L. Shiffer Sr., on 
  December 17, 1991; and two brothers, Eugene R. Lewars and Willard Lewars. 
  Surviving are three daughters, Patricia A. Mease of Pine Grove, Rebecca A. Lash 
  of Schuylkill Haven, Ethel M. McMullen of Woodbridge, Va.; five sons, Franklin 
  L. Shiffer Jr. of Pottsville, George L. Shiffer and Willard W. Shiffer, both of 
  Pine Grove, Daniel D. Shiffer of Minersville, Joseph S. Shiffer of Lebanon; 25 
  grandchildren; 36 greatgrandchildren; two greatgreat-grandchildren; one step-
  son, Carl Sniffer of Millersburg; two stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-
  grandchild. Services will be held in the H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Friday, 
  February 13, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Dr. Richard Schoenleber officiating. Friends 
  will be received at the H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc. on Friday, February 13, 
  from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Indiantown Gap National 
  Cemetery, Annville, Pa. Contributions may be made to the St. Peter's Lutheran 
  Church Memorial Fund, 312 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, PA 17963.
