  Helen I. Shirk LEBANON Helen Irene Shirk, 92, formerly of the Mt. Zion area, 
  died Friday, November 13, 2009, in Spang Crest Manor, Lebanon. She was the wife 
  of Melvin H. Shirk, who died in January 1986. She was born October 14, 1917, in 
  Myerstown, a daughter of the late Jacob and Agnes Dieffenbach Miller. Helen was 
  a member of the Zion Goshert's United Church of Christ in Mt. Zion. She loved 
  embroidery, crocheting, gardening, and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. 
  She is survived by daughters, Barbara, wife of Lee Zartman of Huntingdon, 
  Carol, wife of Richard Kreider of Lebanon, Sandra, wife of Robert Lentz of 
  Lebanon, Fern, wife of Roger Kirst of Fredericksburg, and Rosene, wife of 
  Donald Bollinger of Lebanon; daughter-in-law, Sue Shirk of York Haven; 16 
  grandchildren; 30 greatgrandchildren; and six greatgreat-grandchildren. She was 
  preceded in death by a son, Raymond C. Shirk, who died on April 21, 2008; four 
  brothers; and four sisters. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in 
  the Zion Goshert's United Church of Christ, 1588 Mt. Zion Road, Lebanon, PA 
  17046-7809. Interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends 
  may call Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. In lieu of 
  flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Goshert's United Church 
  of Christ. Rohland Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
