"Bobbie" Shounder, 75, of 530 Rome Road, and formerly of Manheim, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at the Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Edith Wertsch Fidler and the stepdaughter of the late Raymond Fidler. Barbara worked as a notary for the Manheim Auto Auction until her retirement. Previously she worked for WDOV in Dover, Del., where she provided the noontime Radio and TV announcements of current events and weather for the local area. Barbara also worked as a SATO travel ticket agent in Texas for military and government employees. She was the loving military wife of John S. "Jack" Shounder, retired USAF, and they observed their 52nd wedding anniversary in May of this year. Barbara was a member of Lititz United Methodist Church and volunteered her time with the church's open door clothing bank. Bobbie also volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician for the Manheim Veterans Memorial Ambulance Association. Throughout her life, Bobbie had a passion and talent for the Theatre Arts. She was the performing and technical advisor for the Kent County Delaware Theatre Guild. Bobbie was also the lighting director for the Delaware Ballet. Locally, Bobbie acted in several commercials in Pennsylvania and Delaware and helped with the Ephrata Cloister Music Events. She was the original director of the Salem United Methodist Church of Manheim Christmas Drive Through Nativity Event and later helped with the Easter Pageants at the church. She and her husband were active members of the Cotillion Dance Club of Lancaster. Bobbie was a member of the Lititz V.F.W. Post 1463 Auxiliary. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Nicole, companion of Kate Shounder of Lynnwood, Wash., and Heidi, wife of Thomas Braught of Dover; a grandson, Casey Aaron Lee Shounder; a sister, Beverly Sites of Lancaster; and a sister-in-law, Alice Fidler of Mount Joy. Bobbie will be lovingly missed by a greatgranddog, Marquis. Bobbie was preceded in death by a brother, Robin Fidler. Relatives and friends will be respectfully invited to attend her memorial service from the Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 E. Market St., Lititz, on Thursday at 4 p.m. with Pastor Steve Rodgers officiating. Interment is in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Thursday afternoon from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barbara's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603. The Buch Funeral Home Manheim, is in charge of arrangements.
