Willard L. Smith, 76, of 11 Towpath Road, Annville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 19, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his wife and family. Born in Hershey on November 4, 1932, he was the son of the late Edward and Corneilus Simmons Smith of Mt. Wilson. Willard was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a graduate of Cornwall High School. He worked as a foreman at Schick Electric for 12 years, and retired from the Preston Trucking Co. as a truck driver in 1996. He was also assistant fire chief of the Union Waterworks Fire Co. many years ago. Willard enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Clinton County with his wife and family, watching the bears and other wildlife. He also enjoyed hunting with his sons. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gloria A. Sabo Smith; daughters Stephanie, wife of Carl Baldwin of Jersey Shore, Shawn, wife of Sylvain Daigle of Annville, and Patricia Ewing of Annville; a son, Rodney, husband of Terri Smith of Lebanon; and eight grandchildren, Kelly, Jason, Ashlee, Brad, Shelby, Amber, Morgan, and Abby; and three great- grandchildren Chantel, Timothy, and Brenden. He is also survived by two brothers, Wayne, husband of Shirley Smith of Lancaster, and Warren, husband of Lorraine Smith of Manheim. He was preceded in death by two sons, Willard Jr. and Rodger Smith. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Odyssey Hospice at 4660 Trindle Road, Suite 204, Camp Hill, PA 17011; or to the Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042. Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Annville, is in charge of arrangements.
