  Claire L. Swartz, 72, of 221 Rapho Street, Manheim, died peacefully following a 
  long illness on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount 
  Joy facility. Born in Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late Emmanuel and 
  Helen Zellers Zearfoss. Claire graduated from Harrisburg Hospital School of 
  Nursing and Lebanon Valley College with a degree in nursing. She worked at 
  Harrisburg Hospital and later became the assistant director of Nursing for 
  Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Claire was a very active and 
  faithful member of St. Paul's United Church Of Christ, Manheim, where she 
  served on the church consistory as an elder, deacon, and Spiritual Council. Her 
  leadership and involvement with St. Paul's extended to Women's Fellowship, 
  board of Christian education, search and memorial garden committees, Sunday 
  school and bible school teacher and Senior Choir and Bell Choir member. Her 
  volunteering and leadership was evident with her community involvement with the 
  Manheim Historical Society, as a registrar for the local polling locations 
  during elections, Manheim Veterans Ambulance Association, Manheim Community 
  Library, Nearly-Nu Shop, Meals on Wheels for the Manheim Area, and as a den 
  mother for the local Cub Scout troop. For many years she was a faithful Manheim 
  Church and Recreational League Soft Ball fan and helped many teams as their 
  official score keeper during games. Her interests included walking, reading, 
  and knitting. Her life was made special by spending time with her children and 
  grandchildren. Surviving are two sons, Mark, husband of Cindy Evans Swartz of 
  Delmont, Michael, husband of Kimberley Crist Swartz of East Prospect; and a 
  daughter, Brenda, wife of Donald Faulhaber III of Manheim; six grandchildren, 
  Alexandra, Cameron, Tanner, and Brandon Swartz, Olivia and Colton Faulhaber; 
  and a brother, Samuel J., husband of Josie Zearfoss of Annville. She is 
  preceded in death by a brother, Carl Zearfoss; and a sister, Jean Zearfoss. 
  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service 
  from St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 50 North Main Street, Manheim, Pa., on 
  Thursday, April 23, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Pastor William J. LaSalle 
  officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in 
  Evergreen Cemetery, Annville. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday 
  evening at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, Pa., from 7 p.m. 
  till 8:30 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Claire's memory 
  to St. Paul's United Church Of Christ Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 129, Manheim, PA 
  17545; or Hospice of Lancaster County, P. O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-
  4125. The Buch Funeral Home, Manheim, is in charge of arrangements. Published
