Antoinette M. Verna, 80, of North Wildwood, NJ, passed away at home on Friday, April, 24, 2009. Born in Lebanon, PA, to the parents of Domeico and Angelina Mongelluzzi, Verna graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School and worked for Catholic charities in Harrisburg, PA. Upon relocating to the Wildwood area, Verna was employed by The New Jersey Association for the Mentally Disabled. She was also employed by the City of Wildwood and served as secretary and treasurer for the City of Wildwood Parking Authority, secretary and bookkeeper for Wildwood Convention Hall Authority, secretary to Wildwood Mayors Charles Masciarella and Earl Ostrander, as well as Commissioner Richard Nordaby. Antoinette retired from the City of Wildwood in 1993 after 26 years of service as Acting Director of Tourism, where she introduced to the area the Wildwood International Kite Festival and National Marbles Tournament and the Wildwood Antique Car Show. Verna was also a former H&R Block franchise owner in the Wildwood and North Cape May areas. Verna is predeceased by her husband, Joseph L. Verna, her sister, Mary Reigle, her brothers, Monsignor Francis Mongelluzzi, John Mongelluzzi, James Mongelluzzi and Matthew Mongelluzzi. Verna is survived by her daughters, Michelle Morkun (Anthony), Nina Catanoso (Charles), Barbara Gallagher (John), and Cecilia Cooper (William), her brother Louis (Gene) Mongelluzzi , her 13 grandchildren, Debrah, Dyanna, Carli Quinn (Kevin), Brooke, Amber, Jimmy, Shyvonne, Jay, Bill Cooper (Lauren), Brandon, Natalie, Joe, Trever, and two greatgrandchildren, Nola and Stella, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mass and Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 28, at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, located at 2900 Atlantic Avenue, Wildwood, NJ. Friends may call St. Ann's Church at 10 a.m., followed by internment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lower Township.
