Vonada, 84, formerly of Annville, died Sunday, August 9, 2009, in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of Martha B. Deimler for 64 years. Born in Lewisburg on September 23, 1924, he was the son of the late Milton C. and Mary Ruth Grimm Vonada. He retired as a heavy equipment operator after 36 ½ years with Palmyra Boro. John was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII serving under General George Patton and received two Purple Hearts and a Silver Star. He was a member of Sherks Church, Lebanon, Union Hose Fire Co., Annville, Annville American Legion Post 559, life member of 80th Infantry Division, and a life member of Post 46 80th Infantry Division Co. F 318th Infantry. Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son, James R. Deimler of Lebanon; three sisters, Pearl Vonada of Hershey, Florence Reddinger of Union Deposit, and Phyllis Weikel of Hershey; five grandchildren, Eric Deimler of Lebanon, Dustin, husband of Linda Deimler of Lebanon, Michael, husband of Karen Williams of Springfield, Tracy Gebhard of Annville, and Scott Deimler of Ephrata; and five great-grandchildren, Bradley Deimler of Lebanon, Avery and Ciara Gebhard of Annville, Justin Williams of Springfield, and Jason Williams of Florida. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Deimler; a daughter, Carol "Sis" Williams; a brother, Charles Vonada; and a sister, Betty Noble. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St. Annville. Interment will be in Mt. Annville Cemetery with Military Honors. Viewing will be held on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Veterans Assistance Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 109, Newburg, WI 53060.
