Youse LEXINGTON, OH Snow skiing vacations with his family were frequent for Brad Youse. His choice for ski mountains were, as his daughter says "the taller, the harder, the scarier, the better!" He had an admiration for extreme sports: cycling, kayaking and adventure racing that found him trekking rugged terrain on competitions that spanned several days. Much loved by his patients, Lexington area neighbors, family and friends, Dr. Brad Youse passed away Monday evening in Shelby, Ohio. He was 46. Born Bradley David Youse on September 27, 1963, in Lebanon, Brad graduated from Lebanon High School in 1981. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Biology from Wittenberg University in 1985, his M.D. in 1989 from Temple Medical School, and served his residency with the University of Cincinnati Hospitals, specializing in orthopedic surgery. Following a year in practice in Dayton, he completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine in Baltimore, Md. With the fellowship behind him, he moved to Lexington and joined the practice of Richland Orthopedic Surgery, with Dr. Richard Norcutt (now deceased) in Shelby. He quickly built his practice due in large part to his amiable personality and precise medical skills. He was a member of the American Medical Association and held numerous specialty medical and professional affiliations, both local and nationwide. His love of outdoor activities, combined with his knowledge of sports medicine naturally merged when he served as team physician to Shelby City Schools sports teams, and as assistant team physician to Lexington Local Schools. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth 'Betsy' (Patchen) Youse; whom he married December 28, 1991; their children, Ellin Youse, Jacob Youse and Matthew Youse; his parents, the Rev. Conrad and Winifred (Hollinger) Youse of Lebanon; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Jen Youse of Harrisburg, along with their children Kristen, Molly, John and Will; his father and motherin-law, Richard and Ellin Patchen of Worthington, Ohio; his sister and brotherin-law, Sarah and Dr. Thomas Freundlich of Lexington, Ohio, along with their children Joseph, Anna, Grace and Lillian; his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Sara Patchen of Columbus, Ohio, along with their children Samuel and Adeline; and aunt, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 350 Marion Ave. (Former Finefrock Funeral Home), Mansfield, Ohio 44903 (419-525-4411). His funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in First English Lutheran Church, 53 Park Ave. W., Mansfield, Ohio. The Rev. Andrew Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. The Youse family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Kirchenwald Lutheran Camp in Lebanon, PA; or to the Dr. Bradley D. Youse Sports Memorial Fund, and may be made at the funeral home.
