  Joseph Earl Zimmerman Sr., 88, of 608 S. 14th Avenue, Lebanon, died Saturday, 
  July 4, 2009, at VA Medical Center in Lebanon. He was born February 28, 1921, 
  to the late George and Gertrude Shaak Zimmerman in Lebanon. He was a member of 
  Calvary Church, Lebanon. He was a veteran. He retired from People's National 
  Bank. He was an avid Phillies fan and attended a men's prayer breakfast every 
  week. He also delivered Meals on Wheels and helped with a soup kitchen. 
  Surviving is son Michael Eric, spouse of Laura Zimmerman of Catonsville, Md., 
  son Rev. Joseph Earl Jr., spouse of Carolyn Zimmerman of Mt. Gretna; daughter 
  Kay Jeannette Bowman of Lebanon; son Rev. George David, spouse of Susan 
  Zimmerman of Lebanon; daughter Karen Lee Heffner of Ephrata; 12 grandchildren; 
  7 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Marjorie M. Mader 
  Zimmerman (10/12/1997), brother George Zimmerman and sister Mary Lou Hipple. 
  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at 10 a.m. at 
  Christman's Funeral Home, Inc. at 226 Cumberland Street, Lebanon, with viewing 
  one hour prior to the service. There will also be an evening viewing on Tuesday 
  from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grand View Memorial Park.
