Zook - Snitz Creek Cabinet Shop Founder Succumbs Allen A. Zook, 67, of Lebanon, died Saturday, May 23, 2009, in the Good Samaritan Hopital. After struggling with ill health for a number of years, he has entered into the joy of the Lord. He was the husband of Vera M. (Zimmerman) Zook to whom he was married for 43 years. He was born October 26, 1941, to the late Amos A. and Mollie B. Zook of Staunton, VA. He owned and operated the Snitz Creek Cabinet Shop from 1974 until 2001. He was a partner in Greenwood Cabinet Shop from 1965 until 1974. Prior to establishing a business, he lived in El Salvador, Central America, during two years of voluntary service teaching carpentry skills. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling on short term mission trips to Florida and Georgia under Christian Aid Disaster Relief, installing kitchens as well as flood clean up service. He enjoyed gardening and working in his orchard. He was a member of the Elm Street Mennonite Church and served as a Sunday School teacher, devotional leader, and moderator over the years. In addition to his wife Vera, he is survived by children: Dean Lavern Zook, husband of Lisa Marie (Moser) Zook of Newmanstown; Sharon Eyvonne Zook of Lebanon; Carmen Rose Lapp, wife of Marcus Lapp of Burgettstown, Pa.; Bruce Alan Zook, husband of Gina (Valentine) Zook of Orrtanna, PA; Loren Michael Zook, husband of Sheey (Johns) Zook of Lebanon; and Glendon Lane Zook, husband of Denise (Bievenour) Zook of Lebanon. In addition, he had 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Lydia (Zook) Schrock and Barbara (Zook) Miller. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Swatara Mennonite Church, 10 Camp Swatara Rd., Myerstown. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon 2-4 p.m. and 68 p.m. at the church. Interment will be on the Swatara Mennonite Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Good Shepherd Children's Home of Honduras, 719 Lincoln Ave., Myerstown, Pa. 17067. Arrangements are in the care and trust of Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon.
