"Chet" Albert, 82, died Monday, March 8, 2010, in the Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of Margaretta E. Bailey Albert, whom he married in December 1949, and with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. He was born in Lebanon, on October 8, 1927, son of the late Jones Ross and Catherine Heilman Albert. He was a 1945 graduate of South Lebanon High School and a 1948 graduate of General Motors Institute, Mich. Mr. Albert served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and later the United States Naval Reserves. He was the General Manager of the former Gingrich Motor Company for 40 years and continued to serve in key leadership roles after the company's acquisition by Frederick's Chevrolet. After retiring from full- time employment, he enjoyed interacting with people as a Material Damage Appraiser for the former Kline Appraisal Company. He was a member of Tabor United Church of Christ since 1950, where he served as an elder, deacon, and council secretary. During his 60 years with the church, he served as a valued member on virtually all church committees and was often sought for his advice and counsel. Mr. Albert was very active in his community serving on the North Cornwall Twp. Zoning and Planning Commission for many years and as a North Cornwall Twp Supervisor from 1987 to 1995. He was a past president of the Lebanon Kiwanis Club, Chairman of the Camp Kiwanis Board, and a long time member of the Board of Directors for the Lebanon YMCA. He was a member for over 50 years of Mt. Lebanon Lodge #226 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory and Zembo Temple Shrine. He was also a member of the Lebanon Navy Club. He enjoyed reading western novels, watching western movies, and spending time with his family and many friends. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son, John D. and wife, Deborah Moyer Albert of Dallas, Texas; brothers, J. Ross Albert of Spartanburg, S.C., and Edward J. Albert, Sr. and wife, Geraldine of Lebanon; and sister, Kathryn A. Heckard of Lebanon. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, greatnieces, great-nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; as well as a group of close, dear friends. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Rohland Funeral Home, Inc., 5th and Cumberland Sts., Lebanon, where a viewing will be held Thursday evening 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be made in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. A Masonic Service will be held by Mt. Lebanon Lodge #226 F&AM on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tabor U.C.C., 124 S. 10th St., Lebanon, PA 17042.
