Aurentz, 92, went home to heaven on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital, to be with his wife, Dorothy M. Kneasel Aurentz, who died on January 1, 2010. They would have been married 69 years on April 12th. Born in Lebanon on November 10, 1917, he was the son of the late George A. and Edna E. Potteiger Aurentz. He retired from the Lebanon Daily News in 1982, after working for 38 years as a printer and prior to that, he had worked at the Lebanon Steel Foundry. He was well known throughout the Ono and Grantville areas for his rural newspaper route. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the European Theater during WW II. He was a member of the Jonestown United Methodist Church and the Lebanon VFW Post 23. In the 1950s, he served as the Secretary for the Northern Lebanon School District, Jonestown Borough. He is survived by his sons, Robert G. Aurentz and his companion, Millie Leonard of Jonestown and Jeffrey L. Aurentz of Jonestown; daughters, Bonita L., wife of William T. Aurentz of Lebanon, Donna C., wife of Allen L. Knapp of Jonestown and Dawn S., wife of Blaine Dove of Portland, Tenn.; brothers, Russell and Richard Aurentz, both of Lebanon; sister, Evelyn Aurentz of Lebanon; grandchildren, Michael Knapp of Arlington, Va., David Aurentz of Jonestown, Shelli Taylor of Springfield, Tenn., and Chad Aurentz of Anchorage, Alaska. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Christine Herr and Mary Zimmerman. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd., Jonestown. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Grand View Memorial Park, N. Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Miracle Network, P.O. Box 855, Hershey, Pa 17033.
