  SCHUYLKILL HAVEN Mrs. Mary Bast, 90, died Sunday morning at Schuylkill Center 
  Nursing Home, Pottsville. Mrs. Bast was born in Pottsville, on Friday, August 
  20, 1920, the daughter of the late Robert and Katie (Rubright) Shappell. She 
  was the widow of Marlin H. Bast, who passed away March 25, 1989. Mrs. Bast was 
  employed by Alpha Mills until she retired and was a former member of the EUB 
  Church of Schuylkill Haven. Mrs. Bast was a member of the VFW Auxillary and the 
  Rainbow Hose Company Ladies Auxillary both of Schuylkill Haven. She was an 
  active member of Schuylkill Haven's North Ward Social Club. Mrs. Bast is 
  survived by her daughter, Sue Ann, wife of Gerald Richards of Lebanon; a 
  companion of 18 years, John Miller of Schuylkill Haven; and grandchildren, 
  Bonnie Canneli of New York, Scott Richards of Oceanview, Delaware and Heidi Ann 
  Tylwalk of Lebanon. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and seven 
  great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in 
  death by brother, Earl Shappell. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be 
  held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at The Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc. 25 E. 
  Main St., Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Father Gerald Richards officiating. A 
  viewing will be held at 1 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow 
  immediately at the Union Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven. The family requests 
  memorial donations to be made to Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 
  17901. Geschwindt Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven has been 
  entrusted with the arrangements.
