Bell CAMPBELLTOWN Marlin Shaffer Bell, 89, passed on to be with Christ on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at ManorCare in Lebanon. He was born, Monday, April 4, 1921, in Dauphin County to the late William O. and Carrie M. (Shaffer) Bell. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Louise (Grove) Bell. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He graduated from the Campbelltown PA Grammar School and worked on the family farm. He was an active member of 4H and had champion baby beefs at the PA State Farm Show. He retired from the Hershey Chocolate Company after 42 years working for both Hershey and Reese. He was a lifelong member of Campbelltown United Methodist Church. He enjoyed Christian fellowship, preaching, and reading his Bible. He and Louise traveled the continental U.S., Hawaii, Alaska and Europe. He loved gardening, wood working, carpentry, speaking PA Dutch, and spending time with his wife, children, and grand children. He is survived by two sons, Marvin and wife. Sharon and Kermit and wife. Debra of Palmyra; a daughter, Hazel Early of Palmyra; six grandchildren, Gabriel, Michael, Kathryn, Kristen Bell, Carrie and Julie Early; one greatgrandson, Jordan John Harris; and two sisters-inlaw, Joyce E. (Smith) Bell and Mary E. (Kaylor) Bell. He was predeceased by three brothers, Leroy, Wilmer and Leon Bell. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078, with the Rev. J. Thomas Truitt officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Thursday, July 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Campbelltown United Methodist Church, 2760 Horseshoe Pike, Campbelltown, PA 17010.
