Bender, 72, of 34 Garnet Lane, died Wednesday February 24, 2010, in his residence. He was the husband of Nancy J. Humphrey Bender, with whom he would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May 2010. Born in Lancaster County, on May 6, 1937, he was the son of the late Frank S. and Susan R. Haugh Bender. His career in banking began with Annville National Bank as a teller, then head teller, and later Branch Manager for Lebanon Valley National Bank. He retired as a Loan Documentation Manager from Lebanon Valley Farmers Bank in 1998. He was a 1955 graduate of Rothsville High School and attended Elizabethtown College. Glenn served in the U.S. Army with the 8th Infantry Division stationed in Ulm, Germany, as an expert marksman and also served on a U.S. Army competitive rifle team. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Lebanon, where he sang in the choir and held various offices including his last with the fundraising committee. Glenn was a member of the Steelstown Gunning Club, where he helped to design and build the sporting clays course; served as the Treasurer of the Union Hose Fire Company for 11 years; secretary of the Annville Township Commissioners; and helped to organize and was the first president of the Annville-Cleona Sports Booster Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman, and fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Jonathon D., husband of Sheila Bender of Mars, Pa.; a daughter, Sylvia R. Bender of Annville; three grandchildren, Silas, Jaiden, and Jaxon Bender; three brothers, Donald Bender, Sr., husband of Theresa of Ephrata, Gary Bender of Denver, Pa., and Dennis Bender, husband of Doris of Fredericksburg; and two sisters, Jeanette, wife of Fred Bear of Lititz, and Audrey Bollinger of Ephrata; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 1, at 11 a.m. from the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 1776 Rt. 72 North, Lebanon, PA 17046. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park. Viewing will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville, and also Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
