M. shabodeho@aol.com October 11, 2010, 9:36 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on October 8, 2010 Claire Boyer LEBANON Claire Tompkins Boyer, born in Emporium, on August 5, 1925, died peacefully under Hospice care and surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, October 7, 2010, at the age of 85. She was the daughter of Paul G. and Amy H. Tompkins. Claire was a graduate of Rider College, where she met her loving husband of 63 years, James H. Boyer, Sr. She was a long-time resident of Lebanon, where she was an active member of the community, volunteering with the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary, the Visiting Nurse Association, the Community Library, the Jaycees, as well as tutoring Vietnamese children. She was also an active member of the Lebanon Flower Club as well as an enthusiastic participant in the Lebanon Quilters Guild. In addition, she was employed for many years as a legal secretary by the firm of Spitler and Kilgore in Lebanon. A devout Catholic, Claire had a truly kind heart and loving soul. She was beautiful, giving, nurturing, witty, very patriotic, and exceptionally creative. She loved nature, gardening, the beach, traveling, antiquing, sewing, baking, rug hooking, quilting, and, most of all, her family. Claire is survived by her husband, James H. Boyer, Sr.; a brother, Mikel; a sister, Patricia; three sons, James, Jr. of Danville, Calif., Michael of Campbelltown, and Stephan (Michele) of Campbelltown; a daughter, Amy of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Blessed are the Pure in heart, for they shall see God. A funeral mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 125 S. Spruce St., Annville, on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. No viewing or visitation. There will be a reception in the parish social hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 3544 N. Progress Ave., Ste. 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9638. Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Annville, is in charge of arrangements.
