Brubaker, 77, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010, in the Palmyra Nursing Home. He was born March 14, 1933, in Palmyra, a son of the late Allen B. and Maggie M. (Rosenberger) Brubaker. He was a graduate of Palmyra High School class of '51' where he excelled in basketball and held the Lebanon County scoring record for a long time. He received his BA degree from Elizabethtown College and his Masters Degrees from Penn State University and Temple University. He taught school at Susquehanna Township High School and owned and operated Lutz's Laundromat in Palmyra. Jay was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Palmyra Church of the Brethren where he was a member and former teacher of the Joy Sunday School Class. He was also a former member of the Chancel Choir and former chairman of the Church Board. He was also a member of Brownstone Lodge #666 F&AM in Hershey. Jay enjoyed Chip Wood Carving and fishing, but the center of his life was his family. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Lois L. (Snyder) Brubaker; daughters, Melissa Brubaker Wahlers of Hummelstown and Wendy B. Rudder of Lititiz; a sister, Loretta Miller of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Ryan, Mason, and Lauren Wahlers and Grace Rudder. He was predeceased by a sister, Valeria Snoke. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in his church at 47 N. Chestnut St., Palmyra. Interment will be in the Spring Creek Cemetery in Hershey at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church. Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Hershey is handling the arrangements.
