Buffenmeyer, 69, passed away in her home in Schaefferstown on December 29, 2010, after a long fight with cancer. She was born on May 10, 1941, daughter of the late Victor H. and Erna (Keller) Wiest. Kay graduated from Newmanstown High School in 1959 and attended the former Marjorie Webster College, Washington D.C., for a degree in early childhood education. Her passions in life were her family, friends, and spending time at the beach. Kay fulfilled her love of children through operating an in-home childcare business for over 30 years. She also loved reading, needlework, and the arts. She was a member of St. Paul's U.C.C. in Schaefferstown. Surviving is her husband of 43 years, Howard A. Buffenmeyer of Schaefferstown; daughter, Amy L. Weik wife of Dale Weik, Jr., Lititz; son, Adam W. Buffenmeyer husband of Allyson H., Schaefferstown; sister, Joan C. Cole, St. Clair Shores, Miss.; and three grandchildren, Olivia, Tanner, and Addison. She is also survived by several brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at 6 p.m. at St. Paul's U.C.C. in Schaefferstown. A private interment will be held at a later date. Friends are invited to visit with the family following the Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute; or to the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital at the following address: M.S. Hershey Medical Center, Office of University Development and Alumni Relations, A120, P.O. Box 852, Hershey, PA 17033-0852.
