Cornelius, 62, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at his home. He was the husband of Debra (Edris-Palkovic) Cornelius. Born in Lewistown, on February 2, 1948, he was the son of the late Charles and Madelyn Knable Cornelius. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and Operation Desert Shield/Storm. He retired from the Army in 2008 with 24 years of service. He also retired from the Owens Corning Fiberglass in Mt. Union. Once retired from the military, he drove tractor trailer and was an instructor for the Mohawk Valley Community College in Rome, N.Y. He was the president of the Bunker Hill Fire Co., served as fire police captain, and managed the Bingo at Bunker Hill. He had also served as fire police for Lickdale Fire Co. and was a Game Commissioner for Huntingdon County. He was a member of the Jonestown Fish and Game Club and was a member of the Lebanon Co. Fire Police Association. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Sherry Cornelius of McConnellstown, Lacy Cornelius of Mapleton, and Tally, wife of Timothy Trent of Morristown, Tenn.; stepsons, Jason Palkovic of New Hartford, N.Y., and Jeremy Palkovic, spouse of Heather of Rome, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Christopher, Madilynn, Abigail, and Stephanie; and sister, Dorothy, wife of James Matthews of Lewistown. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 26, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 and Camp Meeting Road, Jonestown. Viewing will be held on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fox Chase Cancer Center, 333 Cottman Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19111.
