Daubert LEBANON "I believe a man's greatest possession is his dignity, and that no calling bestows this more abundantly than farming." A Farmers Creed Martin L. Daubert, 89, was called by his Eternal Father on Friday, April 23, 2010, at his home. Born on December 4, 1920, in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Charles and Margaret Wenrich Daubert, Jr. He attended local school until leaving to make his way by the age of 14 during The Great Depression. Like his family before him, farming would be his primary trade, at which he excelled. Married to Esther E. Binkley on December 20, 1941, they operated Marty L. Acres until his retirement in 1982. The farm went through several transformations, being known as "Daubert's Turkey Farm" for many years. Milking cattle on the farm were invariably of the Brown Swiss breed. After campaigning across the country, Martin served as President of the Brown Swiss Association. The milking herd was always a contender when entered in the annual Pennsylvania Farm Show. After farming, he was called on by the First National Bank of Fredericksburg to serve on its Board of Directors. Martin was a member of numerous committees and performed property appraisals for the Bank, a task which he thoroughly enjoyed. During this time, he also lent his efforts to Unger's TV & Appliance, a venture of his youngest daughter's family. Martin was a member of the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, Pine Grove. A concerned community member, he served many years with the Pine Grove Rotary Club. He was also an avid hunter and belonged to the Roedersville Gun Club. He was preceded in death by daughter, Linda M. Unger; two sisters, Marian Dohner and Mary Ellen Moyer; and a brother, Gerald W. "Gerry" Daubert. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 68 years, are a daughter, Ella Margaret "Margie" Eshleman of Schuylkill Haven; a son, Wayne and his wife, Dianna Daubert of Erie; a son-inlaw, David Unger of North East, Md.; six grandchildren, Rick Daubert and his wife, Anne- Marie, Marty Daubert and his wife, Cindy, Melissa Daubert and her husband, Andrew Reichert, Stefanie Wakeman and her husband, Matthew, Joe Eshleman, and Matt Unger and his wife, Jeniva; 11 great-grandchildren, Christine, Diana, Alissa, Frankie, Michael, Trinity, Kaitlin, David, Mitchel, Alexis and Lindy; and two brothers, Clifford Daubert, and Ronald Daubert and his wife, Rhoda. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, 347 Sweet Arrow Lake Road, with Pastor Raymond Hurst and Pastor Rick Hoffman officiating. There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove. Burial will be in the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Pine Grove.
