(Corl) Davis (nee Spangler), 90, died peacefully in the arms of her loving husband of 45 years, Thomas E. Davis, on September 12, 2010, at home. Irene was born in Lebanon on January 30, 1920, the daughter of the late William A. Spangler and Mary H. (Folmer) Spangler. She was predeceased by her first husband, Ernest R. Corl; and her sister, Isabel Arnold. She is survived by three children, Ernest R. and his wife, Kyle, David E. Corl, and Mary Jane (Corl) Schlegel wife of David Sr.; grandsons David Jr. and Daniel Schlegel, M.D., Eric, Ryan, and Nathaniel Corl, granddaughter Samantha Corl; great- grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob, Andrew, and Nora Schlegel, Derek Weaver, and Bailey Irene and Drew Clevenger. She graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School in 1938. She worked at Lustberg-Nast and as a sales clerk at Shaffers dress store. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Lebanon, where she was married and volunteered as a fifth grade CCD teacher and cub scout den mother. Irene was an avid bowler in several leagues at Cedar Lanes. She enjoyed dogs, classic movies, dressing dolls, and making crafts. She loved being surrounded by her family and especially cherished family trips to the beach and Illinois. Irene was always full of life and wit and enjoyed reminiscing about old friends and family traditions. Her courage and fighting spirit will continue to inspire all of us. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, September 20, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 202 E. Lehman St., Lebanon, 17046. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon 17042 was entrusted with the arrangements.
