Dechert, Jr., 84, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010, in the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of Jean M. Wrightstone Dechert, to whom he was married 55 years. He was born July 19, 1926, in Lebanon, a son of the late Homer R. Dechert, Sr. and Myrtle Small Dechert. Homer was employed by Novinger's, Inc. of Harrisburg as a construction worker. He was a member of the St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Lebanon, and the Friendship Fire Co. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children, June M., wife of Bruce Barry of Lebanon, Paul H., husband of Bonnie Dechert of Quentin, and Debra A., wife of James Lawson of Lebanon; seven grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; brothers, Leroy Deckert of Lebanon, James Dechert of Washington, Joseph Dechert of Jonestown, Richard Dechert of Lebanon, Earl Dechert of Missouri, and Ralph Dechert of Lebanon; and sister, Betty Dechert of Frystown. He was preceded in death by brothers, Charles and Harvey Dechert; and a sister, Pauline Dechert. Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, 1100 Hunter's Chase Lane, Lebanon, 17046, with a viewing beginning on Friday at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be made in the Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church. Rohland Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
